First, what the heck was that thing around Dean's head in the hospital?
Starting from the beginning--I would love to be able to silence car alarms like Cas did (and since everyone else on the show now calls him 'Cas," I will, too!
).
Man, I was so wanting Dean to make some comment about flying after the angels whisked him away!
Okay, so Sam has been lying to Dean--he did mean what he said to Dean in the siren episode. Here, though, I have mixed feelings--he said it a little more compassionately, like he cared, but he said it to Ruby, and he said it in such a way that I wanted to smack him, thus the mixed feelings. I see it as his pride coming through--I think that has always been his big flaw, and I think that pride is going to have alot to do with his downward slide. On another note, though, I think Jared sold it perfectly, as I forgot I was watching a fictional character!
I don't trust her anymore. I never trusted her, and I have to say, I was actually happy to see that evil look on her face while he was going all vampire on her arm! She has an agenda--it's not all true-love on her part. I think Sam is an addict--he's addicted to the blood and to the power. I hope that Dean will take her magic knife and "gank" her before it's all over! The blood thing makes sense, though--YED did bleed into Sam's mouth, and now he's drinking demon blood to get stronger.
The torture stuff was...uncomfortable. Wow, this show has really gotten dark! Jensen was amazing in those scenes--so cold, and the guy that played Alistair has to have been one of the creepiest demons they've ever had! I was actually sad to see him go (character and actor). His Brando-accent made it difficult to understand at times, but the way he did that sing-song voice, how he looked at Dean--he was scary! I have to wonder if he was telling Dean the whole truth about John, though. I think he was just egging him on, trying to "poke and prod" a little more.
Okay, so Anna called in a few favors to keep her body? Isn't she on the angel hit list? Who is she calling in favors to? You know, at first, I thought she was the traitor, but then I figured that was too easy. After the Cas/Uriel scene in the park, I figured it was him. But I'm with Sil--if the angels don't believe, what does that mean for the rest of us?
Sam killing Allistair--I still have a hard time with the whole powers thing. It's one thing for me to see the angels and demons tossing others around, but to see Sam, who is a mortal, I don't know. Do you think Jared ever breaks out in laughter (or any of them that have to do the same sort of thing) when they have to make that face and act like they are doing stuff with their minds? Ooh, and Cas looked a little afraid of Sam!
One of my favorite scenes has to be that short one between Sam and Cas in the hospital. I don't know what it is about it, but I absolutely loved Sam. The way Jared delivered those lines, how he looked, how Cas responded to him...hotness all around!
he still has SamExcept, I don't think he really does. I think the trust is gone. I also don't think that Sam has any faith in Dean--he said as much to Ruby, that Dean wasn't strong enough. But to me, Dean showed he was, when even though he just found out he had started the end, he still turned around to kill Al. I loved the conversation between Dean and Cas at the end, but I don't think he would have had the same one with Sam. I think they are further apart then ever...they are there, but they aren't, if that makes sense.
So, I'm not surprised that Dean was the first seal, and as soon as Al said the whole thing about a righteous man spilling blood, I knew it was going to be that the same man was the one to stop it. Okay, so show, yes, I love me some hurt Dean. Jensen looks so pretty when he's in pain, and he nails it, but can we stop with the angst now? Can this be his absolute bottom for him, and now there is no way but up for him? Please?
I would have liked to have seen Sam walk in at the end, or something. But maybe this further highlights their distance.
Okay, so here's my speculation now after watching this episode. I'll black it out just in case someone doesn't want to know
***
I think that Ruby is working with Lilith to help raise Lucifer, and she is somehow preparing Sam to be Lucifer's vessel, or even to become Lucifer. This, of course, leads to a Dean/Sam showdown, since Dean is suppose to stop Lucifer.***
Oh, and between Sam becoming like his father and the lack of worth issues he caused in Dean, John is needed back! No matter what Dean does, he just can't get away from the father-issues (and they always say it's the mother's fault
).
On a totally shallow and unimportant note, what hospital do these guys use that they get to wear t-shirts instead of the dreaded backless gown? And, man, I wish I had gotten to see Dean in those hospital pants again with the shirt!
And, of course, next week's preview looks like it totally follows from this episode--not!
As a final note, the acting of Jensen, Jared, Misha, Robert Wisdom, and the guy who played Al was off the charts!!!
ETA: I wonder how drunk Jensen got after this episode...his scenes were killer to watch as a viewer, I couldn't imagine having to act them!
