Oh, I could care less myself, I just thought it was a humorous link. I never even gave thought to it, and if I hadn't seen the link, I never would have known that it was Sam's shirt. Jordayna--have you visited the LR thread over at TWOP? There are numerous posts about the clothes! Some of them make me .

Ok, so I'm rewatching tonight and I KNOW you all know I love Sammy... But I have to tell you, in the car, when Dean questions Sam... He really comes out slugging...
He's just come back from Hell... He knows he's the one lying so far (about hell memories)... He, in my opinion, comes out kinda harsh and mean in his approach. He's very accusatory. He backs Sam into a corner. If it were me, I don't think I would have fessed up anything at that point.
There was a parent / child feel to the scene. I felt like Sam was being scolded. I don't know any child that would have fessed up in that environment.
Of course, Dean has just come from hell, BUT seeing as how I just got done showing a movie about how small touches of fate have a huge affect on our lives... I couldn't help but feel, had that ONE scene played out differently...

I couldn't help but feel, had that ONE scene played out differentlyI'm sure you won't be surprised to hear me say this , but I don't think anything would have changed. I still think Sam would have lied about it, it was just easier for him to do it and to rationalize it to himself that he had to lie about it because of Dean's reaction. Plus, if he had told the truth, then there wouldn't have been the angst-fest that was season 4! Honestly, though, I do have to admit, I didn't watch. "So You Think You Can Dance" premiered tonight, and I love that show.

well of course not... the season had to play out that way.
I was just commenting about the feel of the scene. In light of everything that happened now that the season is over, rewatching it I thought, "He's just come back from hell and this scene feels so negative already." They couldn't even celebrate being together a little while longer before we have to start bringing up the negative stuff.
The boys were doomed from the start.

Yes, Dean did come across kinda harsh and angry. BUT Sam has lied about his powers before, long before he knew they're even were powers and before Dean would have any reason to be angry. He never told Dean about his dreams until "Home". He never mentioned the demon blood or that he found out about Lillith in Season 3. And he played Ruby's game and pretended he didn't know her in the beginning of this ep.
I was rewatching this episode today and I'm still shocked that Sam lied like this. There wasn't even a moment of hesitation, he wasn't unsure about whether or not to tell the truth. He didn't want to tell Dean, not at this point anyway, and I don't think that Dean's attitute could have changed that, no matter how he'd acted in that moment.
I get why Sam didn't tell him. He was afraid of how Dean would react, how he would see him from then on. John raised them looking at anything supernatural in black and white and even though Sam does see the gray, he knows Dean doesn't. So of course he's afraid, and in a way I can't really blame him for keeping all this to himself.
That he could look at Dean and tell him it was his "dying wish" and so of course he's not using his powers, that still shocked me.
On another note: As much as I "hate" that Sam lied in that scene, I "hate" that Dean never told Sam about summoning Castiel in the end. There was no real reason to keep that a secret and I don't really buy that Dean just wanted to keep Sam safe.

I "hate" that Dean never told Sam about summoning Castiel in the end.
Except, we know that he did because at the beginning of the very next episode, they are talking about it at Bobby's and looking up angel lore.
I think they tend to skip over stuff like that (the actual conversation), and instead we find out when they are talking about it it another episode, so the audience knows the information was given but we never actually see it. Another time is OTHOAP, where in the next episode Dean knows what happened to ** Alistair**, but we never see him finding out.

I meant, he didn't tell him before he summoned Castiel. He spoke to Sam on the phone when he and Bobby were on the way to wherever it was they summoned Castiel, but Dean lied to Sam about what they were doing.

but Dean lied to Sam about what they were doing. Well, technically, they both lied to the other. You know, thinking about that scene, I remember their faces when telling the other what they were supposedly doing. I always got the impression they didn't really believe the other's excuse. I'm starting to think the trust issues started as soon as Dean got back, and they just got worse over the course of the season.

Yeah, I felt the same.

If only both of them had had enough faith in each other and told the truth from the beginning. Ruby would have never stand a chance then *sigh*

Ruby would have never stand a chance thenI think, though, that it would depend on how reliant Sam was on her at that time. He told Dean that Ruby saved his life (ugh! but she's DEAD now!!!! , so he still might have had some sort of, for lack of a better word, attachment to her.

That's kinda my point... Things were negative (no trust in the other / harsh) from the beginning...
