First 5 seconds I already love this episode. Dean running away from a little fru-fru dog. SPLEEN JUICE! Sorry, caps were necessary. Gamecocks. "Well The Wizard of Oz was on last night. Said that green bitch was gonna get him." Oh man, if it starts off this funny it's going to get really sad. "Oh well your a dick too." "Apparently I'm not." "You're dying. Again. Loser. You gonna cry?" "I don't wanna be a clue." "I'll man the flashlight." "You do that." Ghost sickness makes Dean become a wimp. Run away Dean, run away! "You know what, your awesome." "You too, I guess." Awww, big guy with kitten. Thank you old ominous guy for telling us what we need to know. "We hunt monsters, what the hell?" Dean quits, Sam's gassy apparently. Evil Sam! Poor Dean... Bobby knows Japanese, how is it possible that he got more awesome? He must have a lot of free weekends. Scaring ghosts to death, that's a new one. I keep thinking of Fargo with that wood chipper. Dean grabbed the bible? Lilith is so freaken evil, even when she's technically not real. Yay! They did it! Holy mother of---Sam has flashing yellow eyes? I'm guessing that was Dean's imagination. Oh, no Dean's lying again. That won't end well. I wonder where Cas was this episode. That surprise was interesting...

OK--first, Jared should get some sort of award for this. How he was able to keep a straight face when looking at all the faces Jensen gave is beyond me, especially when he screamed like a girl!!! Maybe they rehearsed it over and over again at home until it wasn't funny anymore? ? I so enjoyed Jared tonight...his faces, the way he looked at Dean when he was acting so scared, and then the worry you could see on his face at the end with Bobby. And on a shallow note, his hair was looking good tonight! Is Dean starting to remember hell? That has to be a fear of his. I loved that they got that little girl back to play Lilith. I have to point out the ending...the boys looked hot! One layer!! But when the yellow flashed in Sam's eyes, I have to admit that I jumped a little! I was not expecting that! Is that left over residual fear, or is it something more? Is Dean starting to remember hell, and with it he's able to see things he wouldn't have seen before (does that make sense)? The "special"--that boy is fine! The way his chest moved in time with the music, then when he sat on top of the car--HOLY FRAK! I just about died! How do these guys get any work done?? I wonder if Jared expected him to do something like that? I love that they are able to act so goofy like that! This one didn't move the mytharc along, but I think it added some questions to it. And, I guess we found out how the timeline in hell works. Are the gates opened now? What more will Dean remember? What's up with Sam's yellow eyes? Ooh--the snakes! Just...GROSS!!! I ahte them! I cringed watching them, and then when that one crawled over Jensen...yuck! I'm sure my face mirrored his! And, also, I don't blame Frank O'Brian for being scared of the Wicked Witch of the West. She freaks me out to this day! I won't watch "The Wizard of Oz" at all. A few years ago, there was some insurance commercial with her on it, and I would change the channel as soon as it came on, and if I couldn't find the remote, I would turn off the TV or leave the room! The problems---I think Sam should have been a little more worried about his brother. He showed it with Bobby, but I would think that the chance of his brother dying again would have had him a little more concerned. I've never seen Dean as a "dick" or a "bully," either. I do think this one could have been better as more serious with a little humor, as opposed to the other way around.

Yeah, he may be lying, but I won't hold this one against him. Right now, what he's lying about is what he saw. He's probably still not sure about it all. He doesn't have to tell Sam about his memories/feelings (heck, if I lived that, I sure as heck wouldn't want to relive it by telling someone about it). Now, if it starts affecting his work, then there would be an issue. But, for right now, I see it more as he's just not ready to talk about it. Plus, we all know that if he answered differently or gave Sam the idea that there was more, Sam would do everything he could to get him to talk. It's not healthy, but, heck, isn't that part of what we love about these two? They're so screwed up! ;D

SHIT... I didn't even notice the yellow flash...
He didn't admit it to Lilith, but it was his fear.
As for the treat? I loved Jared laughter in the background... and yes, he was looking mighty damn fine tonight.

I would have loved to have seen his reaction to it! Thinking more about the episode, now I'm a little more upset at both Sam and Bobby. They could have shown some concern for Dean. They were just too calm, I think. Hey, do you think Bobby listened to a "learn to speak Japanese" tape when he built the panic room? ??

I knew it was too good to last.
What was too good to last?
I did like how, in parts, Sam looked more after Dean ("quit scratching"), but, I would think he'd be a little more concerned about his brother dying...again...after he just got him back. Besides, I have always wanted an episode where Sam takes care of Dean, where he becomes more like the older brother. I was hoping this one would be it when the spoilers first came out.
I still think this one would have worked much better had it been a serious episode with a touch of humor, if Sam seemed a little more pressed for time to find a cure. I don't know...maybe the writers felt if they did that, it would be too much like season 3. I would have loved to have Sam say something like, "I'm not letting you die this time," and then he is able to go and keep his promise and end the curse.

They were just too calm, I think. They did have to get through Dean's death once. Maybe there just used to Dean deadly deadlines. And this time they were only dealing with a ghost, not a power house demon. I can't wait until either Dean and Cas or Dean and Sam have a talk about the yellow eyes thing. That should be interesting

Maybe they just can't invest emotionally. They are hunters. There will always be risk? I dunno.

See, now, I could buy that if I hadn't seen past episodes where they did invest emotionally. I personally think it was just bad writing. I read that the writer(s) who did this episode are new...maybe they just don't know the characters like they should?
And, I have to agree with something I read elsewhere. What's up with the word "dick" this season? This is at least the second episode they used it in. ;D

Hey, do you think Bobby listened to a "learn to speak Japanese" tape when he built the panic room??? Scared Dean is awesome!!! I loved this ep. The part where he saw the hellhounds was heartbreaking and when he saw SamEvil, that was scary! The rest was just hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing LOL I also wished we would have seen a bit more worried Sam, but I'm sure he was worried inwardly, but didn't want Dean to see ... it would have scared him even more. I missed the yellow eye flash at the end ;D I'll have to pay better attention the next time!

It didn't bother me. I think it's the new "Sam". And I think that's an excellent explanation.

For anyone who didn't see the flash it's at about 40 minutes 10 seconds. I think this has to be my favorite episode so far with season 3 and 4, it was hilarious and had indirect evil Sam, plus the whole 'Surprise'.

I don't think any of us believed that Dean contracted "ghost sickness" because he's a dick, but still, this is what Kripke has to say about it (part of it could be considered a spoiler so I'm blacking it out): *** None of the writers, or anyone on the creative team of SUPERNATURAL, think Dean’s ever been a dick, past, present, or future. He’s a hero. Dean did NOT contract the ghost sickness because he’s a dick. Victims contract the illness because they use “fear as a weapon.” Dean asks Lilith at the episode’s end, “why did I get infected?” And she cryptically responds, “you know why. Listen to your heart.” We, as the writers, probably should have emphasized this mystery more, I take responsibility for that omission. But the point is: the reason he was infected is because of a SECRET he’s keeping. A dark secret that will be revealed in Episode 10. And not at all because of any dickishness, implied or otherwise.*** from here: thetvaddict.com/2008/10/24/a-very-special-message-from-supernatural-showrunner-eric-kripke/( oh, and I can see AL throwing a pissy-fit at the "hero" comment any time now *runs and hides*)
