from buddytv.com:
An episode reminiscent of the film Groundhog Day, which finds the boys repeating the same day over and over again. Eric Kripke reveals, "Sam basically wakes up every day and it's the same day and Dean dies at the end of every single day. It's actually quite funny."
It's going to air on February 14th.

Why do I think the "Dean-ites" are going to be blubbering? (Based on the preview? Watching Dean die?) At least we'll expect it? Unlike when Sam was killed? ?

I think you meant Dean, right?
Thanks for the link to the vids... hadn't seen those yet...
I see what Kripke says now... One minute I'm laughing at their "dual talk" (HELLO THE RULER!) and the next I'm gasping as Sam reveals what's been happening...

At least we'll expect it? Unlike when Sam was killed??I was referring to that. I had though you were talking of "All hell breaks loose".

Ah ha... my bad. I gotcha. I was unaware of Sam's demise, so it shocked me... I hadn't thought that spoilers would have been out on that one...

They were unfortunately. I always knew that Sam would die and that somehow he would live on afterwards, I just didn't know how. You're lucky that you didn't know.

I am so with you on the spoiler thing, Sil. I read yesterday some more specific spoilers that involve this episode, and I'm really wishing I hadn't.

Oh wow This has to be one of the best Supernatural episodes EVER!!! (although I think I'm saying this about a lot eps these days). The first 28 minutes, I couldn't stop laughing. I thought I would be all teary over seeing Dean dying again and again, but then the only tears in my eyes were from laughing. And then, it's wednesday, finally!!! And Dean dies!!! I was so shocked and teary. Sam without Dean ... scary. When he was ready to kill a human to get Dean back, and then he killed Bobby, that was like watching Demon Dean all over again. Okay, he thought it wasn't really Bobby, but he didn't know for sure! My favourite scene from this ep is, when Dean tells Sam that it would be all right, that he wouldn't die, period. And Sam believes him and looks at him like he can fix everything. I loved that. And the beginning was wonderful. I loved seeing the brothers so relaxed and Dean being in such a good mood. It almost felt like we were back in Season One when there was no Deal. Wonderful! And Sam must really hate that Asia song now LOL

Cool--you've seen it! Yep, this one turned out to be way better than I expected, esp since a few days before, I had read the spoilers about Dean really dying and Sam kind of losing it. All I could think was--we jump 3 months ahead, and then back...nooooo!!! It was like BSG all over again, only not, because it was all done by the Trickster. I actually liked how they brought this guy back. He didn't set out to find the biys, they just kind of fell into his lap, and he started playing games with them. The only thing I couldn't figure out is why he played all "gost of Christmas future" with Sam? Why does he care how Sam handles Dean's death? Even thought the guy is right--no more deals, boys!--why does he care? Is he on their side, so to speak? And the one thing that he said that bothered me was when he mentioned how the demons know Dean is Sam's weakness (and vice-versa, of course), because I so hope that's not all there is to Dean's deal. I want the deal to be about Dean, not about getting Sam to go evil or get his powers back.
When Dean dies the first time, my heart broke. The look on his face--telling Sam with is eyes "I'm sorry" and "I love you"--ouch! I'm telling you, Jensen and Jamie should do a silent movie together. The way those guys can say so much with just their faces is amazing to me!
Then the second death--Sam, I think, was thinking it was just a dream, then WHAM! I've seen that scene twice, plus the previews, and I still jump when that car hits him! I think I even felt worse for Sam the second time.
I would have loved to been in on the writers meeting about all the ways they were going to kill dean. Electrocution (again)! Food (which is funny, since we know how much he likes to eat)! Crazy dog! Desk a la the wicked witch!
I loved how Dean believed what Sam was saying, even though he thought his brother had lost it--the trust between those two is awesome. I liked how Sam figured it all out, too.
Dean cracked me up--it was cool to see them doing just everyday, ordinary things, and Dean is being an annoying big brother. Jensen really showed Dean enjoying life here!
The cafe scene when they are talking at the same time was a riot! I wonder how many takes they had to do? At first, I figured it was all probably voice oever, then you see them together in one shot doing it! I also noticed Kim Manners directed it, and I really think he is great with his episodes. He gets so much from his actors.
Jared really brought his A++ game here. I was quite impressed with him. When he thought Dean had died for real, he did change, but he became his father. I always thought Sam and John were alike (moreso than Dean and John). The Trickster became Sam's obsession the same the YED became John's. With Bobby, I thought, "Come on Sam, it's the guy you want,) but then, when he "killed" him, and then started wondering if maybe he really did kill Bobby, I started wondering it, too.
And the hug...there are no words. In the end, Sam is more the big brother to me, telling Dean they're leaving, no breakfast, Dean can't go by himself, worried that Dean remembered being in hell (which--was he? Since all this was the Trickster, would Dean have even gone to hell?).
Last week, we had Dean facing his demon and (hopefully) getting over it. This week, it's Sam. I'm still waiting for someone to say, "Just because you have to go to hell doesn't mean you have to stay there).
What I really want to see now is the bloopers/outtakes from this episode!

The only thing I couldn't figure out is why he played all "gost of Christmas future" with Sam?I had been wondering about that too. When the Trickster said he wanted to show Sam that he couldn't save Dean, no matter what he did, I thought this felt like more and not just the Trickster having his fun with the brothers. When Dean died the first time, I was actually unprepared because I thought the first time would be in the parking lot ;D All the other deaths, especially the piano and the dog, cracked me up. I NEVER thought I would be laughing about Dean dying LOL And when we did get to see the parking lot scene, that was when my heart broke for Sam. Jared's acting, the music ... it was all just so heartbreaking. I would have loved to been in on the writers meeting about all the ways they were going to kill dean. Me too LOL I loved how Dean believed what Sam was saying, even though he thought his brother had lost it--the trust between those two is awesome. That was one of my favourite parts too. It's like no matter how crazy one of them is acting, no matter how weired things are, nothing and no one can destroy that trust between them. When he thought Dean had died for real, he did change, but he became his father. I always thought Sam and John were alike (moreso than Dean and John). I thought so too. It was the same in S1 when Sam became obsessed with finding the YED after Jessica's death. In the beginning, that was all that mattered to him. If it hadn't been for Dean, I think he would have followed the exact path of his father then already. What I really want to see now is the bloopers/outtakes from this episode!Oh yes, me too!!!

I have to add this--upon a second viewing (what can I say, it was a lazy morning)--
When Dean dies on Wed, look how Sam closes his eyes while holding him, expecting to wake up, but then not waking up. Jared so broke my heart there.
Did you see the bubbles while Dean was gargling (I think it was the second Tues)?

I didn't see the bubbles but I just LOVE that scene LOL Just thinking about it makes me laugh. Sam's stare and Dean's grin afterwards was just too good
