Episode Summary: It's a year later and Dean has given up hunting and is living with Lisa (guest star Cindy Sampson) and her son Ben (guest star Nicholas Elia). Mysteriously freed from his cage in hell, Sam finds Dean and tells him he needs to rejoin the fight and introduces Dean to a world - a family - he never even knew existed: the Campbells, his mother's family, lead by none other than their Grandfather Samuel.
Phil Sgrricia directed the episode written by Sera Gamble.

I LOVED the beginning of this episode with all the flashbacks. The rest of the episode though ... hmm, I wasn't too thrilled. Maybe that's because I already knew Sam and Grandpa Campbell would be back, so the element of surprise wasn't really there. And I REALLY didn't care about their cousins. I just found them annoying.
Also, I wanted to slap Sam for being back for a year and never telling Dean. He of all people should know what it feels like knowing your brother is in hell!
I didn't think I would say this, but I hope we won't see too much of the Campbells. I want it to be just the brothers again ... and Bobby every know and then. I don't need all these other people *sigh*
One positive thing: We hardly saw Ben and I didn't find him annoying at all in this episode. I even liked Lisa! Still, I can do without them for the rest of the season.

I really enjoyed this episode, and I was surprised several times because I was actually spoilery free!! Dean going normal was very interesting to watch, he seemed to have assimilated to that kind of life. I've always suspected that Dean has yearned for normal as much as Sam. I didn't find Lisa or Ben annoying at all, and I'll admit that I did like Lisa in this ep. I was really annoyed with Sam and Bobby for keeping the news of Sam being alive from Dean. Dean said that he grieved and was a total mess for a good long while after Sam's "death". You could still tell he was grieving and missing Sam in those opening scenes. Everything he was doing today was a reminder of his time with his family. Grandpa Campbell gave me the willies from the get go (and the cousins, too). Especially at the end of the ep, there is definitely something going on with Samuel. Did you see his expression and his comment at the end? And what's this with catching the djin and not killing her. Hmmmmm....something is wrong in Denmark, my friends. I will admit I laughed when the girl cousin commented on Dean's "delicate" features! That had me chuckling through the whole ep! I definitely need to watch it again because my nuckled headed brother called me about 9:45 during all the Dean whumpage, and I missed it! I was also chatting with a friend who is also a Supernatural fan and didn't get a chance to go back and rewatch it last night. Overall, I really loved this episode and am really excited about the upcoming season. And I wish it was still on Thursday night because Friday night is a bad time for watching tv!!
