Dean couldn't hear Castiel in his true form, that's why that's not really possible, I think.
I wonder, though, if there was a reason for that. Jimmy wasn't able to hear Cas at first, either (at least, I think that's what happened when they showed him rolling on the floor in pain). But, Jimmy was a believer. Maybe Dean couldn't hear Cas because he wasn't a believer (plus, he had just gotten out of hell--maybe that had something to do with it as well)? And maybe that's why Jimmy was able to hear him? And seeing as the apocalypse was coming, Cas didn't have the time to wait around for Dean to become a believer and have the ability to hear him, thus the reason he possessed Jimmy?

Hmm, yes, that makes sense. We'll have to remember to ask that question at the convention we're all going once you win the lottery

I loved this episode! I didn't think it'd be that good at first but it was amazing! and the ending was definately the best...I didn't see that coming!
