Pics from the episode-- andreas-ri.livejournal.com/127719.htmlIn one of them--and I would link it if I knew how, because it doesn't really look spoilery to me--it almost looks like Jensen is trying hard not to laugh (it's more of a posed pic).

Young Sam looks adorable and I love that picture with young Dean and Sam!

Yeah, but I think young-Dean loks more like young-Sam's father!

nope, sorry... Dean's ticked me off already. He would be in the office.
And hello, I have a problem here...
I just said the following to my dog... Who was whining...
"Knock it off, you know you don't get to interrupt me during X-files!"
Anyone see my problem?

I didn't like the Dean character... Not only his high school behavior which was BEYOND obnoxious... I don't think John would have allowed him to behave that way. It would have attracted too much attention... PLUS his eyes? Were wrong...
Young Sam was too small, but... I keep trying to find a freshman in my classes that small, but they at least balanced him out with the other smaller kids.
The bullying stuff... overt like that? Doesn't really happen in our school. It felt foolish and awkward for me. For example, just being in the fight? Both boys would have been in WAY bigger trouble. No teacher would have walked away from a punch.
Ok, I'll get over the school flaws...
The concept of bullies and bullying was good... Loved Sam both old and young...
Young Dean captured the characteristics, but I didn't like him.
Did anyone else's heart stop when Sam declared he wasn't evil? Sigh...

Did anyone else's heart stop when Sam declared he wasn't evil?Honestly, I was too busy laughing at how stupid this episode was! Sorry, but I didn't like this one at all. The writers who penned this one also penned "Yellow Fever," another one where I felt the characterization was way off. These guys, in my opinion, are 0 for 2. Yep, young-Dean irritated me as well. There's no way a kid would get away with talking to a teacher like that, and there's no way John would have put up with it. I didn't care for the actor, either. I felt both Sam and Dean were 1-dimensional, and they told me nothing I didn't already know about the boys. Please--I've read better fanfics about them at this time, and ones that I believe they were like given what I've seen over the past 4.5 seasons as opposed to what I saw tonight. Dean was already hunting by now, he had raised Sam, yet he's shown to be...a dick, basically (but, given that these guys wrote "Yellow Fever," I guess is what they think). Have they ever watched the show? I really think they love Sam and hate Dean...is this suppose to be when Dean lost all his confidence and Sam gained his? Because, I always got the impression that Dean never felt himself worthy (the shritga incident, writers?). What's with the "I'm a hero!" Ugh...I could never see Dean saying that! Wasn't John's motto, "We do what we do and we keep our mouths shut?" So then why is he all "I save lives!"? Ugh. And is Sam happy?? NO!!!!!!!! I didn't need this episode to tell me that! I do have to say, I liked young-Sam. I think he's a great little actor, and he's perfect as little-Sam. I felt he was kind of small, especially when compared to Dean, and it was kind of harsh for me to see at first, but once the kid started his scenes, I forgot all about it. I think he really nailed every scene he was in. I think this episode would have been better if young-Dean wasn't in it at all. Let him be off at work or something. Aren't they suppose to be 5 years apart anyways? If Sam was 14 here, it would be totally believable that a 19 yr old would be working or something...anything then what I saw. On a totally shallow note, Dean/Jensen looked HOT in the jogging suit! The gym shorts, though--has he insulted someone in costuming? Yeah, I think this is my least favorite one to date (hee--can you tell?). Even the ones I don't care for, I can always find a scene or two to watch. There's nothing in here I would watch again. The whole episode makes me cringe. I think I'm going to pretend it never happened. Sorry for the rant (and it I've offened anyone)...

nope... I like the idea of no teen Dean... Sam could have carried this. Excellent insight...
I do like how it set up Sam's ability to go on his own and want something more... But maybe it's because my heart was swooning that it was a teacher that spurred him to think he could do it.
It was the Teen-Dean I most disliked about this one... BUT I did like some parts.... Ya know... The Sam stuff...

Yes, it was definitely a Sam episode, and they should have followed through on it.
I feel like I got how wonderful Sam is compared to how much of a jerk his brother is.
Ooh, but in that scene with the blender, I so saw that coming. I kept thinking, "Don't go there! Don't go there!"
Yeah, it was nice that a teacher helped Sam, but do you really think he'd remember Sam? I mean, kids I taught for a whole year have come up to me in the store and I have no recollection of them. It would have been funny if the teacher said something like, "You've grown up."
And I had to laugh at the hair. That, in my opinion, wasn't a "lock of hair." It was like a ponytail that was cut off! When Dean was looking for it, I kept wondering how he was going to find it! ;D
I also did feel bad for poor Barry. That character got to my heart.
Ohh--loved the "21 Jump Street" reference! That was my favorite show when it was on the air!

I also laughed at 21- Jumpstreet. But ya know, I wasn't addicted to Johnny Depp on it? I loved, Doug... (Peter Deluise).
It did make Dean look like an ASS, which was why the episode was so horribly wrong in my book.
And yes, the Barry character was all too real and sad.
I really had to wonder if a blender had the power to do that much damage? When it gets to human bone? I suppose, but...

Here's something else...this was suppose to be a Sam-centric episode, right? I wanted to learn something new about him, but instead I saw what I already know. And what happened with him driving off with Ruby at the end of last week's episode?

Maybe not stop, but this was a wonderfully acted moment. Great Kudos Mr Padalecki.
I hated teen!Dean with passion. May I join your bandwagon Mick and pretend there was only young Sam in this epi? Wee!Sam is so made of win.
I didn't dislike the episode as a whole, though. What got me here was what the teacher told Sam: "There are a few choices that define your life. Make sure you're the one who makes them." I strongly believe that whatever happens to Sam re: becoming evil or not is only up to Sam. It's a choice. That's because I don't believe in destiny and I'd be disappointed if my favorite show was advocating that our lives are determined by some mysterious forces.
So, all in all, I'm okay with this one.

It's a choiceITA, and I hope this is how they play it out. If they excuse it all away that it was just his "destiny" (ugh--I am so with you on that, too), I may throw something at my TV. He's making the choice to go with Ruby--if he chooses evil or if that's the end result, he only has himself to blame. On another note, it looks like this episode was very popular (keep in mind, "Grey's" was a repeat). From here-- www.tvguide.com/News/Ratings-CSI-Supernatural-1002285.aspxSupernatural's "After School Special" got excellent grades, scoring the series' second-best audience of the season — 3.58 mil (up 18 percent).

I checked with kids at school who watch... they confirmed the following...
School is NOT like that.
#2. They didn't like Teen-Dean either.
It's official.
