Yeah, I knew you'd like the table . That scene, though, looked funny to me. I'm thinking it was how they had to do the special effects. It looked more like Sam standing there for a second, just staring (when he could be shooting the rope that was strangling his brother!), and then young-Charlie would appear somewhere else. And, with all the anvils dropping, I'm surprised that Sam didn't get hit with one! ;D Although, I do think his choice fits with his character...Sam has always come across to me as someone who is confident that his choices are the right ones. I do hope, though, that the writers follow through with this, although I'm still a little ticked with him for once again keeping things from Dean and then sneaking off with Ruby (ugh!) , although this is in character as well (as we've seen in previous episodes). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this means that his story is finally going somewhere!

Didn't Dean agree that Sam needed to use his powers and that Ruby was "ok"? I know Dean doesn't like Ruby, but like Sera answered in the TV Guide interview, he accepts her more.

Okay, call me dense, but I don't understand this Charlie thing. So ... he was old and died ... and then he was young again? How did that work? Did I miss anything? I really liked this episode. I LOVED the scene with Sam and Dean talking about getting old or not. So heartbreaking! I knew Sam was ready to use his powers again in that moment, but that he would go with Ruby behind Dean's back again came as a surprise. That can't end well. I still love that the powers are back in the story though! I also liked the guest stars a lot, they were perfect for their roles. Like Mick, I enjoyed watching them even when the boys weren't there J'babe, when I read your quote in the other thread, I thought the safeword might relate to someone being in hypnosis and this word would wake him up

Didn't Dean agree that Sam needed to use his powers and that Ruby was "ok"? I don't know that he agreed as much as he was resigned to the fact, maybe? I take it you're referring to the "Heaven and Hell" two-parter? I'm thinking maybe there wasn't enough time for them to even argue the fact, but I still think he's not going to be okay with it. As for Ruby, I'm hoping maybe he's just playing her--you know, getting her to think he's okay with her, right before he puts her own knife through her heart! Maybe he sees her more as a necessary evil--Sam accepts her, and he loves Sam and would do anything for him. but I don't understand this Charlie thingI think he was immortal, but unlike Duncan McCleod, he would be young, grow old, and then start all over again. Ooh, something totally random (and stupid) that I noticed last night while watching that made me laugh....in the scene with Sam and Ruby in the hotel room, if you notice, the center of the screen (for some reason, which really bugged me as Sam was half cut off) was the bathroom. I noticed that the seat on the toilet was up! I wonder if someone did that on purpose, to make it more real (only two guys in that room, no reason to put the seat down). And Shawn LOL when I told him it was Dean that got choked and not Sam!

I noticed that the seat on the toilet was up!Good catch! And Shawn LOL when I told him it was Dean that got choked and not Sam!Well, that is unusual *grin* I think he was immortal, but unlike Duncan McCleod, he would be young, grow old, and then start all over again. So the dead old body wakes up (so to speak) and then turns young again? This is probably totally irrelevant, but it bugs me that I don't know how it works LOL

That's how I interpreted it, but I could be totally wrong. ;D

I had to explain it by he being unclear. He thought he was immortal, simply because he became young. Either he was killed or Sam and Dean buried him alive and didn't want to tell?

He mentioned that he worked with Barnum, which I'm taking to mean PT Barnum, who was around in the late 1800's, so I'm thinking he had some sort of black-magic spell that made him start out young, grow old, then start over again. I don't think it's the same as that Doc Benton guy (is that what you were talking about?), as he didn't harvest organs or anything. I keep reading over at TWOP something about a grimoire that he used, which I guess would be where he got the black magic spell.
