I think "Chief" thing with Dean was revenge for Sam having to entertain that old lady last season. More parallelism?
Charlie kept doing black magic and J had to kill him. They were like brothers.
Does everyone Sam and Dean meet parallel a certain angsty part of their lives? This seemed more like a Sam episode. Ruby really is the little devil on his shoulder, but does he have to directly quote what she told him to Dean? 34 seals broken already out of 60, lets see we're on the 12 episode, so like have way through the season, yeah that makes sense.

Okay, I have to say, despite the headache I have from all the anvils dropping on my head, what with the comparisons of Jay and Charlie to Dean and Sam, I still liked this one. I really enjoyed the guest stars and didn't mind when they were one screen without the brothers. I felt bad for Jay in the end. The one thing I couldn't figure out-- is Jay suppose to be Dean or Sam? Ruby--while I can't stand her and have to wonder why she of all people is worried about the apocalypse (I mean, she's a demon! Why does she care about humans?), she did further Sam's story, although he's still keeping secrets from his brother! Frakking secrets! Anyways, I'm interested to see what it is Sam is going to do, but whatever it is, I don't think it's going to be good. And, honestly, it's about time, in my opinion. They need to move that storyline forward. Question--when young Charlie died, what did the bottom of the tarot card say? I couldn't see it because of the stupid CW logo on the screen! And, I thought that Jay stabbed himself...was it one of those prop-swords things? I do think that this one moved the mytharc forward more than last weeks. I felt more in this one that there is still some distance with the brothers, and I think they both felt a sort of kinship to Jay and Charlie. I think what Jay said in the end may be forshadowing. Oh, and what was up with the use of "douchebag?" Geez. I don't know who Criss Angel is (I mean, I know he's a musician and is apparently in a relationship with one of those Playboy bunnies on that show on E!, but I don't know what he looks like). Was that guy really him, or just an actor spoofing him (I'm talking about the Jeb guy)? So, based on this episode and the Ausiello spoiler in the "General" forum, I have a speculation about where things are going. If anyone is interested, I posted it in the Ausiello spoiler thread.

Loved the scene with Dean and "Chief". I was I don't have a problem with Ruby as much as the actress who plays Ruby. Mick, I wondered what was on the Tarot card too. I'm sure someone on the internet somewhere has it figured out! LOL! As for the parallel between Dean and Sam and Jay and Charlie, I didn't pay as much attention to it until the end. The look on Sam's face was so tortured. Not wanting to be hunting when he's an old man...

I think Jay was supposed to be Dean and Charlie was supposed to be Sam. Sam with his Demon magic and Charlie with his black magic. The card said the Magician. And I think Jay stole the magic cards from Charlie and did a trick where he went to kill himself, but someone else got the injury.

The card said the Magician
Thanks!
Also (totally useless bit of trivia), but I think maybe young-Charlie was played by old-Charlie's real life son. I noticed the same last name inthe credits, and when I looked him up on IMDB, it looked like the same guy.

I never saw Rocky Horror, but from what I've read, yes, it was him. The actor is Barry Bostwick, whom I've always liked. He was in "Spin City" with Michael J Fox .

You KNOW I loved Sam bound to a table right? My mind has places to go with that... Yes, Barry Bostwick was in Rocky Horror... Sigh.. The good old days. Fitting Malo, since you once skipped Spn to watch RHPS, didn't you? I had a weird experience with this one, considering I've been utterly spoiler free. I got home and saw the final scene in the bar and then watched. SO, the comparison was there for me the whole episode. I wouldn't call it a Sam show, but it was definitely better balanced and I LOVED the guest actors. (Been a big BB fan for a long time.) I also like this episode a lot. It was inevitable Sam use his powers. And frankly, I don't mind it. I want to see it. It must happen. It doesn't hurt that my classes are looking at the story of Faust. He sold his soul to the devil in the hopes he could use the power for good. Of course the tension is, will he remain true to himself. Ultimately in the end, he does. Sam is my Faust. Sam's decision made so much sense to me. He barely wanted the life... came to accept it, but J showed him a future with Ruby's help... Why wouldn't he try and use something to avoid it. The constant battle, the toll? And Dean, as usual seems willing to accept it. Sam wants something different. He's kinda were Dean was... They've paid their price. When do they get a break? I'll have more when I can think more... I'm gonna go reflect on Sam and the table...
