think it was Yor who said that Dean might have made a deal in hell
See, I think it's more what he did in hell. When Uriel said Dean needed to "get off his high horse," I have to wonder if he was talking about how Dean was reacting to them smiting the town and killing innocents. I think that maybe Dean dished out some torture in hell against some other souls, maybe as a way to keep from getting tortured himself. And I also think that maybe the soul(s) he tortured wasn't bad (as in a child killer or something), but someone who maybe made a deal for fame or fortune, which, to Dean, would be stupid, but they wouldn't be a bad person. So, he avoided torture by torturing them. I'm thinking maybe what Uriel was saying was something like, "He's willing to judge us for killing innocents, but in hell he had no trouble torturing someone." I don't think he made a deal with heaven, though, because Castiel has made it sound like--not only with Dean but with Uriel--that God wanted Dean out of hell for a reason. Why would he need to make a deal if God got him out for soemthing else? Plus, I've about had it with deals on this show...I think the deals just need to stop. ;D

That's a good theory, too, Mick!

Ok, so last night I was watching (no new Burn Notice)...
In the end, when Uriel was confronting Sam. He looked for a few minutes like the "old" Sam. He looked innocent and genuine. His face was soooooo expressive.
I truly felt for him at that moment. He did really want to give up his powers, but in that situation, he felt backed into a corner. You could see the conflict in him.
I'm not trying to brew things up, but just watching Jared's face had me so transfixed.

Jared did an awesome job through all the season. The conflict between wanting to use his powers and the old Sam shining through was always there. Excellent acting!

Early in the season, the conflict was certainly there and raw on his face. Later, he became an ass about it (often enough).

Very true, but I wonder of the conflict would have been there if Dean hadn't come back? Would he have questioned what he was doing if Dean hadn't come back, or would he have been full steam ahead with it?

Interesting... I'd like to think guilt would have always nagged at him, but I suspect he would have gone completely ahead with only Ruby feeding him.
Course, do we really want to imagine a world without the Winchester BROTHERS together?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do think that, if Dean had not of come back, Sam would have had the guilt, but he would have pushed it so far down, he wouldn't feel it. His need for revenge would have overtaken everything (which leads back to the whole "like father, like son").
