from cwtv.com:
Sam and Dean investigate the mysterious demise of drowned victims who were nowhere near the water at the time of their death.
The brothers learn each of the victims saw a ghost ship shortly before they died.
Upon investigation, they cross paths with Bela (Lauren Cohan), who is being paid handsomely by one of the murder victim's family members to solve the case.
Sam and Dean warn her to stay out of their way, but she has other plans.
Cliff Bole directed the episode written by Laurence Andries.

It occured to me today, rewatching this episode, that a small scene is begged for...
Both boys have reason (in their minds) to feel guilty about deaths in their family... and yet neither boy was targeted... Am I overthinking?

Good catch, yor!
I think this is probably one of the "writers overlooked it" things. This, I think, was supposed to be more of a **gag** Bela story. Although, at the end, with the two pirate brothers, I swear a huge anvil hit me on the head! ;D

Good catch, YOR.
For various reasons, it'll probably best to erase this episode from our memories (except for a few scenes, like when Dean finds out that the Impala is gone LOL)

You're going to erase Dean in a Tux? And Sam being groped? No way!

No, we definitely can't erase the tux scene, the Impala scene, the scene in the end. How about we just forget the scenes with Bela?

The only thing I don't like about it is how much time they spend on the deaths of the other characters... get to Sam and Dean!

OK... another moment... When Dean and Sam are in the car and Dean says, "You can't save everyone." Sam replies..."Lately, I don't feel like I can save anybody."
ARGH! Such powerful sadness from my man. Considering that's all he's ever been taught is the acceptable thing to do... yowsers!

Oh yeah! Poor Sam! He must feel this even more strongly in Season 4.
