Okay, so the scene in the garden...it sure looked like the same "garden" from the BSG miniseries (where the Laura visited the little girl).

I thought the same!!!! This was a weird episode. I have to say, I'm tired of the boys dying. They've died often enough. They can stop now. And I don't like this heaven! I liked the glimpses of old Sam. He's still there My heart broke when Dean threw away the amulet! I hope deeply that Sam picked it up. One day, Dean will want to have it back! Pamela - yuck! I could have done without her return. Ash though, I liked seeing again.

Yeah, the boys dying is kind of a joke now, although I did laugh at Dean saying "when I come back"--he knew it wouldn't be forever.
I'm not a fan of this version of heaven, either. Don't know how I feel about the whole "God has left the building" thing. Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is just entertainment and not let my own beliefs get involved!
My heart broke for all three guys--Dean, Sam, and Castiel. Dean with his mom and also kid-Sam at the beginning, Sam with the dog, and Cas at the end (the look on Misha's face was heartbreaking).
I have a feeling the rest of this season is only going to get angstier (if that's even a word ;D!
ETA: John was apparently a worse father/husband than I thought!

Holy Moly! After seeing this ep, I can see the Fanfiction going like crazy with Weechesters/Teenchester stories. Yikes, who knew that John was that crappy of a father and husband. I about cried when Sam told Dean that he couldn't believe that Dean was picking up the pieces even before their mom died! I'm thinking that Sam is seeing Dean's childhood and young adulthood in a whole different light. The part when Sam was relieving his time that he ran away from home, how he never considered how John may have treated Dean for letting Sam run away. Yikes, and double yikes! I do believe I saw a bit of the old Sam here as well.
I was thinking the same thing about the garden scene, too. I thought it looked a lot like the garden in BSG.
I loved the Sam and Dean scene where they were playing with the firecrackers. Dean really seemed to reliving a great time in their childhood.
Sam was just so funny at the Thanksgiving table! I must admit I chucked there!
I hope Dean realizes that was not his mother in heaven telling him all those terrible things. Hopefully, he saw through all the crap that Zackariah was sending him. I hate that angel. He is truly evil. Why is he in Heaven? I did like Joshua, even though he wasn't much help.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Sam will pick up the amulet (I think Dean wasn't really thinking things through there when he threw it away. Dean seeing Cas's devastation of God not seeming to care seems to be a big trigger for him throwing away the amulet. I don't think he was sending Sam a message (at least I hope not).

Mick, I agree about having to keep my own beliefs out of this. I was getting rather angry while watching the episode, but eventually set that aside. Zachariah is horrible! Watching him paw Mary made me go, "EW". Loved seeing Ash again and how he helped the boys. My heart broke when Sam said to Dean, "I never had the crusts cut off my sandwiches."

Was this really heaven? Or could it have been a "heaven" created by Zach?
At the end of this one, I could see the beginnings of future-Dean and future-Cas (from "The End").

I finally watched it and agree with a lot of what you've all said. Zak had to have manipulated at the very least the Mary scene... I don't have a hard time believing that Mary and John had issues. That's why he raised her to such high levels to worship. And we only saw one side of things. I felt bad. They were John bashing.
I can't tell a lie. I LOVE my SAMMY~ He's starting to SHINE! Go for it my man! Stay strong!
