From cwtv.com:
Sam and Dean come to the aid of Sam's old college buddy after he is accused of a murder he swears he didn't commit. The brothers discover a shapeshifter is adopting the likenesses of others and murdering people. The brothers' race to stop the shapeshifter takes a terrifying turn when he shifts into the likeness of Dean.
The episode was written by John Shiban and directed by Robert Duncan McNeill.

SO... I'm having "weird?" thoughts about the end of this episode... How did they explain it all? Could they have removed "Skin's" stolen ID? Scratched out his face to impair ID? Would Dean's dental records be on file somewhere? I know for the story line they had to make Dean a criminal... but I just kept thinking last night that our boys are smart enough to have figured out some way to cover it looking like Dean??? Like I said, Weird thoughts... I'm thinking I need to write a tag...

In the compendium they said that Dean becoming a criminal happened more by accident and that it wasn't planned. And Dean was already a suspect before his doppelganger was shot by him. Sam's friend identified him after she got attacked by Shapeshifter-Dean ... though of course she could have said later that she was wrong. Hmm, good point, YOR. I look forward to reading your tag ETA: I just thought about something else. Maybe they didn't have time to cover their tracks because the police was already on their way. Shots have been fired; it's possible that neighbors have heard that and called the police.

lol... Interesting... In an american expression, someone in the closet is gay... I was wondering if it was universal or not... I was curious if you would react to him being "in the closet."
However, I shall let you be in the closet with him for sure...
(giggle... I'm thinking I need to hang a picture of him in the guest room closet when you come!!!)

I didn't know that expression. In german we say "Er ist vom anderen Ufer" when someone is gay. A pic of JA in the guest room? Nice idea That plus the November calender pic with Jensen and I'll never leave your house again LOL Btw, did you know that Jared and probably Jensen too will be in a convention in Austin this weekend? However, I shall let you be in the closet with him for sure... Thanks

Oh, I'm sure I'm going to love playing with Hans (once I get over being afraid of him ). But as a replacement for Dean? Hmm, I'm not sure there ....

I'm rewatching this episode and two things came to my mind:
First, at the gas station in the beginning, Dean says to Sam (when talking about Sam still being in touch with his friends):
I mean, hey, man, I get it, tellin’ the truth is far worse. (...) Look, it sucks, but in a job like this, you can’t get close to people, period.
I wonder if he's talking about Cassie. He told her the truth because he loved her. She didn't believe him and broke it off. That might have taught him that telling people simply isn't a possibilty in his life.
And second:
Dean keeps refusing that this is their kind of case. Maybe he is so reluctant because he doesn't want Sam to return to his friends, to get in touch with his old life. He might be afraid that Sam might decide to stay. Or he simply doesn't want to know too much about Sam's life at Stanford because it hurts too much.

Good thoughts. And adding onto being afraid Sam might want to go back to his old life, maybe he was also afraid it would be too painful for Sam to go back to that and be faced with what he's lost.
