Mixed feelings about this episode. There was some good stuff which needed to be said, (Me the youngest child was screaming AMEN!) but as usual, overall they "healed" and accepted WAY too quickly. (If only it were that easy!)
The magic of TV, right. It's frustrating.

overall they "healed" and accepted WAY too quicklyAMEN!!!! I mean, really? No way you get over trust issues that easily. It wasn't like Sam took the Impala without asking and dented it. And I'm glad that they finally got the whole "you need to let me grow up and be a man" said, because it's been needing to be said for a few years now. But, I do have to say, I'm tired of Dean always saying he's sorry. Yes, I know that Sam is sorry, but for me, he says it in a round-about way ("You can't punish me as much as I punish myself"); however, if he wants to be treated as an adult, then he (I think) needs to stand up and say to his brother, " I am sorry I hurt you." It's not about all about Ruby, it's not about the apocalypse, it's about how he made his brother feel. Dean apologized to Sam for how he treated him, now it's Sam's turn. I do think the words need to be said, and considering it doesn't seem like he says those words very often to Dean (if ever), I think they would mean something. He needs to admit to Dean that he knows he hurt him. It's not just about Sam feeling guilty. And, I do have issue with his thing about going with Ruby to get away from Dean--um, he went with Ruby before Dean came back. I guess he could argue that he was still escaping Dean, only it was the memory of him, but still. There were times when I really didn't care for both boys--I think at times both of them were being jerks to each other. And they did heal way too quickly. Is that it now? Sam won't say "I'm sorry," the phone message from the finale will never come up? Can you tell I didn't really care for this one? I hate it when things on TV get white-washed! Or, what is it that the boys have said--the CW magic healing ointment? Oh, and Dean still has daddy issues? ? REALLY? I thought we had gotten over that! But, my heart did skip a beat a little when Paris said something about becoming John. I was all, "man, they kept this under wraps!" But, alas, it wasn't meant to me. Bonus pints to Sam for chopping her head off! There were some cute parts, and I do give kudos to Paris Hilton to be willing to poke fun at herself (but I still don't think she can act). I liked the "House of Wax" comment and Jared's face (although I haven't ever seen that movie). Overall, I don't think this is one I would watch again, though.

I guess I'm alone on this, but I LOVED how things worked out between Sam and Dean in this episode. Dean needed to understand how Sam felt all this years and Sam FINALLY told him. With understanding comes the ability to forgive someone's actions. What I do have a problem with is - like Mick said - that Sam said Dean was one of the reasons he went with Ruby. I don't buy that. Yes, it felt impossible for Sam to stay with Dean who openly showed his mistrust to him and even trapped him in the cellar - with good reason of course! - but then again, he always had to fight to prove himself to John and Dean, so he was kinda used to it. Without the demon blood addiction, he would have never left Dean to go with Ruby. That felt like a lame excuse and I'm surprised Dean didn't call him on it (I blame the writers for that). Paris ... yeah, she's a terrible actress. Loved the boys faces when the girls said she took their friend The House of Wax reference was cute - loved Jared's expression LOL (I saw the first half hour of the movie and was more than happy when Jared's character died at that point so I could stop watching - I found it to be a horrible movie). Dean and "Little Bastard" ... hilarious!!!!

You're not alone. I don't hate it. As youngest child, I was cheering Sam on like you wouldn't believe!!!!! I was practically screaming, YES YES YES!!! I wanted my family to be watching. However, I might have tweaked Sam's words a bit. I can see what Mick says. Has Sam actually said, "I'm sorry I hurt you, Dean." It would be nice. I don't like the glossed over healing. As so Dean saying sorry, I'm ok with it. He was treating Sam like shit. He wasn't doing Sam any good. He was being spiteful. Sure, he's hurt, but he was taking low blows and cheap shots. Superficial stuff... A much needed conversation but not the perfect conversation I'd built up, imagined, written and re-written so often in my mind. My expectations for their healing is / was quite high. This is one of those times I don't think the show can or ever would meet it. That's where fiction came from. I loved the House of Wax scene... and I also loved that Paris could poke fun at herself. I thought it was a great point. What we "worship" today?

He was treating Sam like shit
Yes, he was, in this episode, so I can see the apology (and, I think part of why the writer had Dean be such a dick is so we could get the whole "you need to let me grow up" thing). But he apologized in the last episode, and I don't think he treated Sam badly by any means in that one. And what you said is another reason I want to see Sam say the words--he treated Dean badly throughout season 4. I think they were both jerks in this one--Sam, to me, acted put out that Dean didn't trust him, and Dean went from saying they needed to work together to being controlling. I think the characterization of both of them was all over the place and didn't, for me, follow from the end of the last episode. This seemed more like an early season 1 episode (where the writers didn't know the characters as well, among other things) than a season 5 episode. But miles vary and all that.
This is one of those times I don't think the show can or ever would meet it
See, I kind of disagree. I think the show should meet it. The writers brought the boys to this place--they teased it for how long? They finally broke them apart. I think, then, that they need to put them back together and not gloss over it (but, then again, they seemed to gloss over Dean's PTSD from hell). Kripke has always said that family is the heart of this show--I was really hoping for more than what I got. Now, I do know that there's a chance that things aren't really great, that this is a temporary fix, but that could just be wishful thinking on my part. If you're going to take the time to cause such a rift, to split the boys (and the fandom ;D), then take the time to put them back together. But, again, miles vary.

Perhaps this week isn't "it." Perhaps we'll still see them struggling with it all. That would be good and would help.

Well obviously I have a direct lineCool--would you then also ask for a shirtless scene or two? Or, if that's too much, maybe just one layer, preferably a t-shirt? Thanks!
