I really liked this episode. I missed Sam - until he showed up as the DEVIL which was GREAT! - but Dean annoying the hell out of Dean made up for Sam not being around.
Great acting from both boys!
Now I want to know why Sam said yes. I hope we find out one day ... without him actually saying yes in the end. One time Sam/Devil is enough. I want him to be stronger than that!
FutureEarth was scary!
I LOVED the scene with Dean and Lucifer, especially the part where Lucifer tells Dean that he doesn't have to kill him because no matter what he does, they'll always end up here because Dean will never kill his brother. And then the tear rolling down Dean's face - perfect!

You know, I didn't care for this one at first, but I liked it better the second time (I had missed the first 20 minutes or so, so that may be why). I think Jensen knocked it out of the park. I loved what we saw of Chuck--especially the "hoard toilet paper" line. Cas as a human was funny (I read other posts where they compared him to Baltar!). He was such a different character. I give props to all of them for playing against their characters. Dean2014 was, as Dean09 said, broken. I was amazed at how different he looked--his whole face looked different to me. Great call-back to the croatoan virus. I loved that Dean09 didn't fall for Lucifer's line of bull! I was glad to see Sam came right out with telling Dean about being Lucifer's meat suit, too. I did, however, have a few problems with this one. One--the voices started getting to me. I didn't think Jensen could get any lower, but Dean2014 proved me wrong. I get that he was showing how hardened Dean was, but after a while, it started bugging me. While I loved the expressions Jared gave as Lucifer and I understand that he was channeling Mark P's version of Lucifer, the higher pitched voice was like finger nails on a chalkboard for me. I don't really think Dean had any reason to apologize to Sam at the end--he's entitled to his feelings. I also don't think Sam fully gets how he hurt his brother. I guess we'll find out in later episodes--hopefully. I hope this isn't something that is swept under the rug...it needs to be dealt with. As for future Earth--when Dean14 was telling Dean09 he needs to say yes to Michael, it sounded so much like what Zach has said that I started wondering if it really was the future or just one that Zach made up (playing in his own sandbox, so to speak) to try to force Dean09 to say yes. Kripke has said, though, that he plans on finishing this arc this year, so unless they pull a BSG and time-jump (please, no), then I think whatever happens will go down in 2010. I do think it would be ironic if the last couple episodes ended up in that field, though. Could you imagine Dean09's face when he recognizes the place?

Totally thought the same thing. I kept waiting for Dean09 to say that to Lucifer. And can I say, Sam as Lucifer scared the poop outta me! JP did a great job.

This episode just sent chills down my spine while watching. 2014 Dean was quite cold and broken, and when he was begging 2009 Dean to accept Michael, I too, thought that perhaps this whole futuristic view of Earth was Zachariah's doing and not real. Lucifer/Sam was so chilling in his charming way. Watching him break Dean 2014's neck about broke me. I was glad that Dean called Sam and still refused Zachariah to let Michael in. I'm hoping that Sam and Dean can destroy Lucifer without the help of the archangels. So, I'm thinking, they do need the colt to help bring Lucifer down. I get it now, that Lucifer won't start the Apocolypse until he is in his true meat suit~Sam. I'm so glad that the boys are back together.

That was pretty chilling to see! I had to LOL when Dean09 told Sam/Lucifer yo kill him, and Lucifer was all, "that would be redundant."

I liked the episode.
Sam calling Dean was to me, him saying, "I can't do this alone. I need you. Please help me. We need to do this together. I'm SCARED."
Dean's reaction revealed his hurt. Sam got the message. His "logic" couldn't hide it. They've had that argument before.
To me, Dean doesn't have to trust Sam yet, but he saw bringing Sam back as the lessor of two evils. He was challenged by both Lucifer and Zach. They both said he would do it their way. SO, he's going to do it his way. He still says no, and he alters his plan and brings Sam closer so he can help try and make sure Sam doesn't say yes.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a smothered Sam... Dean doesn't trust him at all. Why should he...

Oh, yeah, I got why he called Sam back, and it makes total sense. I just want to see them work through this. There's been times in the past that I have felt they (meaning the writers) have kind of brushed things under the rug, and I don't want to see that happen here. I would like to see them work through it and become stronger together. But I also don't want Dean to be the only reason Sam says no--I want Sam to be stronger than that.
I also wonder why Sam would say "yes," which is another reason I think this all may have been a trick on Zach's part. He didn't need to show Dean why, Dean just needed to know. This could be one possible future. I think Kripke is still keeping with his fate vs free will thing. I hope to see Sam and Dean win without becoming vessels.

I hope not. I think that's always been part of the problem. Sam never felt like he was in control--someone was always telling him what to do. I think Dean is going to have to tread a fine line. And Sam is going to have to understand that Dean just isn't going to trust him again...it's going to take alot of work, for both of them.

There's already fic out there about why Sam says Yes. I could see a ton of reasons why Sam finally caves...
I don't see Lucifer playing as nice as he claims, etc. Threaten Bobby, Dean, Ellen, etc? How many will have to die or suffer before Sam begins to weaken? That's why Dean has to be there, to remind him.
