ok, so... Yes, it was like the X files episode. Not much Sam and Dean, but the Sam and Dean was GOOD. (Too much time on the family in the beginning.)
Hello, Uncle? DUH!
How long have we been waiting for a "life's been hell?" Dean raised eyebrow scene?
I cannot tell a lie, the show is now the Dean Winchester show. Hands down. We will get a token Sam bone now and again, but that's about it.

Stupid question if the kids behind the walls never saw light, or were very sensitive to light, how did they know how to read or write? Then again, 'Go' and 'Too late' aren't that complex, (They have good grammar too, wrote the correct form of to.)
When she broke the rats neck and eat it, *shivers* too creepy.
And more angsty, guilty Dean. And no Castiel?
I kind of liked this episode, reminded me of the first season. I didn't see the brother thing coming at all. Were they twins, or was the father/grandpa really, really messed up? I couldn't really see the brother well.

I'm guessing they were twins, Malokitty (and I didn't see that coming either). So, pretty creepy for me. I have to admit to covering my eyes through a couple of scenes. It felt like a season 1 episode, with both boys coming up with the information to solve the case (as opposed to some of the episodes where one doesn't know anything so the other can tell the audience what's going on). One little thing I loved was in the beginning, when Sam laid back down after talking with Dean. the whole car shook! I can't believe they killed the dog! I refuse to watch some movies because of such things! I can remember being afraid at night to let my hand hang over the bed, just in case something was under there, and I think I may the same way tonight! That girl was creepy! All that aside, I think the show is doing a diservice to the mytharc storyline. Tacking on 2 minutes at the end for Dean to talk about hell isn't keeping the mytharc going. It almost felt like an add-on, like someone said at the last minute, "Oops, we need to keep up this storyline." I would also like to see Sam say something to Dean's confessions instead of just staring. He mentioned in the beginning that they'd been hunting like that for a month since Dean's first confession, and he hasn't figured out anything to say yet? And also, Sam seems to be dealing well with his own issues. It's like the writers can't handle both the boys having to deal with emotional issues at the same time, so they just choose one to focus on. In season 2 we got the "I may go evil," and now we have how Dean's hell issues (I have to admit liking the little subtle remark Dean makes about the smell, though). Overall though, I have to say terribly creepy, definitely better than some of the episodes we had last year (in my opinion), and the boys looked hot . ETA: I had to chuckle that the episode was sponsored by MBV! Think they'll do that with F13?

I would disagree that the mytharc wasn't advanced. I think Dean was haunted the whole way through. I think he's now terrified. He feels off his game by "letting" the uncle die... and I think that led to his confession at the end... He's afraid he isn't as sharp because he enjoyed torture.
Dean is suffering still and we saw it... not sleeping, etc.
I also agree about the Dog. I had to look over and check Hans. I also agree about the kids being able to write but not talk? Huh?
Think of the therapy that Rat is going to need after watching the girl eat the rat.
I did chuckle at his predicament. Salt, no guns, etc. I didn't see the Twins either, but it makes sense in light of how much damage was done to the cars. I mean seriously, they got into the trunk of the Impala?

My clarification... My disappointment was the direct ripoff of the Xfiles. I'm not in to that. Eric, be original. Paying Homage to the horror movie genre was one thing, ripping off the ONE episode of X-files is lack of creativity in my book.

Yeah, I see your point about the mytharc thing. After sleeping and rereading what I wrote, I think it's just more that the last scene just felt tacked on to me. Maybe if they had put it somewhere else in the episode, you know, change it up a bit? And I would like to see Sam have some reaction to what Dean is saying, other than staring. I kind of feel like the show has lost site of Sam's character...in season one, it would have made more sense to me, because at that point, Sam was still very much the "little brother." But he had time apart from Dean, went through his own issues. I don't know how to say it...I guess I want to see him be more assertive. Ack, I just don't know how to say it! He has always been the one to push Dean into talking about his feelings (like with John) and now it seems like he just doesn't care. Are they trying to show us how Sam has grown colder after losing his brother? Is it guilt on Sam's part? I know there's nothing he can say to make it better, but how about, "Hey, man, it doesn't matter to me. You'll never be a monster to me" Dean would brush him off, maybe not even believe him, but I would still like to see him try. But, that probably falls into my wish to see Sam be the "big brother" at some point and take care of Dean.
Oh, and let me say, if I was in a house as a kid and some girl looking like that girl showed up in my room, I wouldn't be all, "Hey, don't be afraid" like the son was. I'd be screaming my head off and running out the door! And I loved Dean climbing into the hole and hoping nothing would grab his legs!

I liked this episode. I only vaguely remember the X-files episode, so it didn't feel like a ripp-off to me.
What bugged me was that Sam and Dean ran into the house without a shotgun. They were hunting a ghost! They heard someone screaming and they go in there without their shotgun? And I wish Sam would have gone down there with Dean to save the kid. It's always better to have backup and they had the father up there to pull up the son, so Sam didn't need to stay.
As for Sam not saying anything ... I think there really isn't anything he can say. There's nothing he can say that is going to make this easier for Dean. Plus, he kinda knows how Dean feels. He's been there in S2. Save as many people as you can in order to make up for the bad in you. There wasn't anything Dean could do to help him about feeling this way either. Except of staying at his side, and that's what Sam is doing.

Yeah, but Dean would still say stuff to Sam, he was still a part of Sam's story. I feel like Sam's just on the sideline watching Dean. True, nothing he says or does is going to help, but it doesn't feel like he's trying, to me anyways. Even a pat on the shoulder...something. He wanted Dean to talk about it, and now that he is, he isn't saying anything back. Heck, they could even have a scene of him looking up info about PTSD...I'd be happy with that. It would make him look more proactive instead of just an observer.

I'm finally watching last night's episode. I'm FREAKING OUT! It's been a while since I've watched any SPN (I know, bad fan!) and I've forgotten how creepy it can be. I'm so glad I have the lights on!

Yeah--I had all the lights on, the dogs on the bed with me, and I still covered my eyes at times (not to mention the times I was peeking through my fingers).

I just finished watching it. I'm SO freaked right now. The kids are still up but watching a movie in their rooms. I might have to go get them to sleep with me! LOL!
