Kripke keeps talking about the fourth season as if it was already decided. So I don't think he's worried about not getting another season. And if he's not worried, I don't think we have to worry. And yes, the rating being that great even withouth Smallville should show the network how big the fandom for this show is

And the fact that they did so well, even ebing up against "Lost" says something as well!
I have to admit, I do watch "Lost" (I've been watching it since the beginning and feel like since I've given it so much time, and there is ending planned, I need to see it through). I actually watch "Lost" live and tape SPN. I have to say, for all the acclaim "Lost" gets--and this is just my opinion--especially this Thursday night, SPN was so much better. "Lost" was kind of slow and boring (and, frankly, I'm kind of lost watching it sometimes) this week, while SPN was attention-grabbing from the get-go.

I also watch Lost, but both shows air on the same channel here (on the same day even, Lost airs after SPN), so there's no competion. I like it too, but no where as much as I love SPN. I keep watching Lost for the same reason you do, now that I watched it for so long, I want to know how it ends. But should it end this season, that would be okay with me. Whereas with SPN, I can't get enough of it

Wow--you're lucky "Lost" airs on the same channel. I was upset when I found out it was airing against SPN here! At least, when SPN returns, "Lost" will have moved to 10pm on Thursdays, so I can watch both live.
But should it end this season, that would be okay with me.
Oh, me too. I'm kind of glad that they already have an ending and know when it's going to end. It makes it easier for me to watch!

OK... I don't have much to add.
I'm starting to sound like a total Sam lover, but hey, I am, right?
I don't think Sam was out of character. All season, we have seen him struggling to cope with what will be happening. Honestly, I would have considered doing it.
From what I read before the episode even aired, I was expecting him to actually push for Ruby's way. I was surprised he gave in so easily.
I am PRAYING Henrickson made it out... I'd love to see him as a hunter now that he's come to the "light."
As for Lilth as a child form... for some reason, and I can't recall why, it didn't shock me. I was expecting it based on something I'd read about Lilth.
I would suspect she is the owner of Dean's contract... I'm very much looking forward to why she's so interested...
The show keeps you guessing!

Got a nit pick... Ruby breaks the window and climbs in. Sam cuts into the paint to release her and then we see him correct the salt. My nit? We've seen them blow salt away before to get through... It's dumb, but it nags at me.

I've read an interesting discussion about this on lj ... unfortunately I can't exactly remember where. Someone pointed out that the Crossroad Demon referred to the contract holder as "he" ... so then it couldn't be Lillith. On the other hand, we don't know exactly if demons really still think in "he" and "she" - Meg once chose a femal body to possess and later she chose Sam. But then there's the YED referring to his children as daughter and son ... it's all very confusing LOL But I'm starting to think that Lillith isn't the contract holder after all.
It was said on the show that there were different fractions trying to become the new leader. Maybe Lillith isn't the only powerful demon interested in the Winchesters.

I've seen alot of discussion about this as well, most of it centering around (besides the "he" thing Sil mentioned), that if she was, why doesn't she just tell Sam to give up his role as the demonking and she'll let Dean go? I almost think that the contract holder is someone else (and I've seen people mention Meg, but then the run into the whole he/she thing). I guess we'll just have to wait and see, probably until next season (dang strike!).

I guess her being a demon and, as Sam or Dean has said before, "Demons lie", she doesn't trust anyone to just keep true to his word, so just accepting Sam's word for it is probably not enough.

ok, When Hendrickson says, "I shot the sheriff." and Dean of course, replies... "But you didn't shoot the deputy."
It's of course, funny... BUt seriously, the LOOK on SAM's FACE is HYSTERICAL and makes me laugh out loud!

It's one of my favourite quotes of the whole show!
It's about time they release the DVDs so that I can watch it all over again too.

That's a great scene! And even though you knew that line was coming (it's so Dean!), I love how Sam looked (and how Jared played that)!
Bring on the DVDs!!!!

Ok, it was my first time seeing this epi. I'm about Henrickson. I knew he was going to die before the epi aired, I just didn't know how. Couple of things that I loved: Dean's response to Henrickson's: I shot the sheriff. I said, "But you didn't shoot the deputy"right with him! It was hilarious! And Dean's stance on: We are not going to sacrifice a virgin. Again..hilarious! And Nancy telling the other deputy that if they got through that night she was going to have lots of sex...but not with him. LOLOLOLOLOLOL Loved the tattoos...and I loved how Henrickson finally believed them about the demons. But was so sad he had to die. I liked this episode a lot. Definitely one of the good ones of the season!

I also miss Hendrickson. He was a very interesting character, even if he worked against the Winchesters most of the time. And just when he started to believe ... he would have made a great hunter!
